About

A small workshop, with the door open

This project started with a simple observation: children act out the stories they love, and the Book of Mormon is full of stories built for acting out — a torn cloak raised on a pole, a sling at the watering place, sixteen small stones carried up a mountain.

What is missing is something to hold. So we are designing a line of character figures at roughly ten inches — sturdy enough to be played with, detailed enough that an adult would not mind one on a shelf — starting with Captain Moroni.

Why the site looks like this

Most product sites appear the week something goes on sale. This one is up early and on purpose, because the free half of the project is ready to be useful now: the stories and the printables cost nothing, need no account, and work perfectly well whether or not a figure is ever made.

The other reason is honesty. It is easy to photograph a digital model, write "coming soon" and collect deposits. We would rather show the state of the work, keep the promise list free of money, and let you decide when there is something worth your while.

How the characters were chosen

Not by taste alone. We looked at which characters the Church's own illustrated children's manual, its art collections, its video series and the Primary songbook actually return to most often, and used that as the starting point — then weighed each one on whether it makes a good figure: a scene a child can stage, accessories worth holding, and a story that rewards retelling. The characters page shows the result.

About the stories and the artwork

Every story, booklet and illustration in this project is original work, written and drawn for it. We do not copy existing retellings or reproduce anyone else's artwork. Where a story marks a passage ◆ it follows the scripture account with the reference given; where it is marked ○ the detail is ours.

This is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The booklets are companion reading guides meant to sit beside your scriptures — they are not lesson manuals and they do not replace anything.

Get in touch

Questions, corrections, or a character you think we have wrong — all welcome. If you spot something inaccurate in a story or a scripture reference, please do tell us.

The promise list

We will write when there is something real.

No payment, no deposit, no obligation — this is a list of people who want to know when a figure is genuinely finished, tested and ready. That is all it is. You can leave at any time, and we will never pass your address to anyone else.

Please sign up as a grown-up, using your own email address. We never ask for a child's name, age or any other detail about a child, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. See our privacy note.
